Tenere Gerke Enduro Meet July 2016

We left the house on the 15/7/16 at 08:00 in the morning and headed off to dover where Vilma was about to embark on her first ferry trip, we usually catch the train but as she had never been on the ferry before it sounded like a plan.

The ferry ride was smooth and i treated her to a english fry up which went down well for both of us.

After we arrived in Calais we headed off to Gerke. We travelled for about four and a half hours and arrived 16:30, and started to pitch the tent. Firstly we stripped out or riding clothes and got changed into something more comfortable and then cracked open a nice cold beer. Detlev and Derek where there to great us but Gerke was still riding off road with the other guys as they had all arrived the week before.

After we set up the tent we chatted with all our friends when Frank and Sabine arrived. We greeted them and helped them off load. We chilled out and Frank said that he was going to take a walk to go and get fresh fries, so off we went to the chippy and had fresh chips.

We got back to the tent and the sun was setting to show a beautifull sunset.

After dinner we went to bed and decided to brew a cup of coffee and Frank said he would love a cup too, so we heated the water on the stove and made the coffee. We gave Frank a cup and he took a sip and spat it out straight away and said thats not coffee, he offered to Detlev and he also said it tasted terrible. Vilma thought it was because there was too much sugar but then she tried it and pulled such a face and spat it out, i tried and realised what had happened, the burner had had metholated spirits in it and had leaked into the pot after my last camp and when we boiled the water it had mixed with the water. so after all the drama we decided that after a long day it was time for bed.

We both fell asleep quickly and when we woke up in the morning got dressed and had breakfast.

Most of the people where going off road riding so we decided that we were going to take a ride to Cologne, so we got changed and set off.

After visiting the Cathedral we walked down to the river and saw this guy who was making bubbles for the kids and was collecting money so he could travel the world.
